National Book Tokens helps independent bookshops connect with readers across the UK and Ireland. To stay competitive in a fast-moving market, they needed a stronger digital presence and a way to engage more directly with their audience. We helped them build the tools to do just that, increasing reach, boosting loyalty and driving more sales.

Building a smarter platform

Back in 2006, National Book Tokens had no online directory and no way to show where tokens could be redeemed. We built a new website with a searchable store directory and gave bookshops the ability to personalise listings and promote offers. This helped drive footfall and made it easier for customers to find and support local stores.

Creating caboodle

To build loyalty and bring users back, we created Caboodle; a rewards platform where readers could register their cards, earn points and access personalised offers. We also built an eCRM programme to support targeted marketing and promotions. The result: over 1.1 million engaged users, 400,000 active email subscribers and stronger connections between bookshops and their customers.

Adding personalisation

We helped launch a new gift card service that let users personalise and send cards online. This was fully integrated with their digital systems and supported by a fulfilment partner. With 14,000 personalised orders and an average value of £65, it became a key part of their ecommerce offering.
